Network/Cloud Edition License
The Network/Cloud Edition allows controlling multiple computers from a single/main installation. The remote agents are to be installed on those computers manually. However, the License admits a single installation of the product only. Anyway the Network/Cloud license does not permit multiple concurrent the main product installations.
Agents Usage
The remote agents are programs without its own user interface. The agents can be installed onto a computer and provide with the same protection quality as the main product installation. The remote agents installation can be controlled by the Agents list
After the agents are installed you can control the remote computers individually. Selecting the Computer field

you can observe new programs detection on a remote computer, change the programs permissions remotely and check the network events raised on the remote computer. So the Programs, Zones and Events panes are redirected to reflect the remote computer state. The Default and AllApplications zones of the Settings pane reflect the remote computer state as well. The remotely installed agent allows you creating virtual sub networks that include the agent running computer (see Cloud and LAN Protection for the details).
Agent Installation Scenario
Windows 10 Firewall Control detects other computers of the same local network and automatically populates the Agents list with the computers that can have a remote agent running. The Agents can be added to the list manually as well.
The agents can be specified by computer name or by IP address. IP address takes precedence if an IP address is specified. The Agents list capacity is limited by the license.
After an agent is installed onto a remote computer and the Agents list shows the related entry, everything is ready to control the computer remotely. You can control the remote computer by selecting the desired computer in Computer field above.
Also you can monitor and adjust the remote computer applications permissions automatically. In order to make the automatic operations you have to set Agent state to Enable and " Enable Deployment " for the selected agents. Checking " Agents Processing " instructs Windows 10 Firewall Control to iterate through the Agents list to perform the desired actions. If deployment is not enabled, Windows 10 Firewall Control will just monitor Enabled agents presence and the permissions consistency.
Agent Installation
The agent installation is similar to installation of any other program. The agent setup (Windows10Firewall-Agent-Setup.exe) can be found in the installation folder of the Network/Cloud Edition or can be dowloaded independently. You have to copy the setup file onto a remote machine and launch it as any regular setup file.
The agent removing can be made manually as well via ControlPanel/ProgramsAndFeatures. After the agent is installed you can access the remote computer as the local one exactly.
The agent version must correspond with the main program version. That means if you updated the main program, you generally have to update the agents as well.
Typical problems and Diagnostics
If the agent is unavailable ("Can't connect" message is shown by the centralized panel when the remote computer is chosen) in spite of the agent is installed, the most probable reason of the problem is WindowsFirewall. Formally the remote agent connection is based on DCOM. So, WindowsFirewall must enable Windows10FirewallService (the agent itself) and port 135 (in any form) as the access to DCOM/RPC coordinator. The agent setup performs all the required actions automatically.
The agent setup may create additional user (W7FirewallControl) account on the system. The corresponding login is used to communicate (bidirectionally) with remote Windows 10 Firewall Control agent/product installation. The additional user presence may cause the login screen on the system after Reboot/SwitchUser preventing the system from auto login. In order to revert back to login automatically:
  • Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to launch the "Run" dialog box.
  • Type in control userpasswords2
  • Press Enter. The User Accounts window will display.
  • Uncheck the option "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
  • Click "OK"
  • You will then be prompted to enter the current password and confirm it.
  • After doing so, you will no longer be prompted to enter your password upon login.
